William A. Shapse, MD is a graduate of the University of Louvain in Belgium, and received his M.D. degree in 1978. The following three years were spent at Saint John Hospital in Detroit, MI completing Residency in Internal Medicine and serving as Chief Medical Resident in his senior year. He next went on to Fellowship at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA where he pursued his training in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He first entered private practice in Englewood, NJ where he spent the next 10 years. In 1992 the Shapse family made the move to South Florida, and Dr. Shapse re-established practice in Boynton Beach. As of September 2017, the practice was moved to Delray Beach, its present location.
Dr. Shapse is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and The Endocrine Society. Dr. Shapse served as Medical Staff President of Bethesda Memorial Hospital from 2002 to 2003. While Dr. Shapse no longer makes hospital rounds, he continues to be affiliated with the Medical Staffs of both Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center. If admission to the hospital is deemed necessary, there are dedicated physicians to care for you while in-house.
